My name is Sarah Waiswa and I'm a Ugandan born Kenyan based photographer currently living in Nairobi. Travel for me is a way of putting perspective back into my life, and an opportunity for me to be inspired. I have always had an interest in photography, however the interest grew when I moved back to Kenya after living in the States for about 11 years. I came back with a hunger to reconnect with the continent and photography allowed me to do this. I like to travel in general but would love to do more in Africa; though often times you find that travel within Africa is super expensive. Having the opportunity to do so for my current project, African Cityzens, meant I could travel and capture stories along the way.

I’m Christy, a girl who loves to tell stories, see new places and experience things first hand. I live in jeans and comfy sweaters and have a thing for wool socks. I’m also a sucker for a good beverage and some local street food. While I’ve lived in various places around Europe and Asia, I’ve recently relocated to Mexico and am learning to don more respectable footwear and differentiate between chilies while learning Spanish and soaking up the colors and cultures of this beautiful country. Shanghai will always be my home-away-from-home, as it’s where I found my “expat” footing and learned how to live abroad. In the last decade I haven’t managed to stay away for longer than ten months and while I hope to be fully present wherever I am, there’s a small piece of me that will always remain in China. I landed in Shanghai back in 2004 as part of a study-abroad group through my university. We came as a whole pack, professor included, so I’d say we had a pretty ‘soft landing’ in some ways; we weren’t left to figure everything out on our own and we had someone to walk us through what we were experiencing. But it was my first experience living overseas and without a doubt, I had a lot of adjustments to make on all levels. I loved it though—the chaos, the sights, sounds and even smells. Noodles for breakfast is my kind of paradise and as someone who’s drawn to vibrancy, the city offered an unlimited supply of it in the way of laundry hung from telephone lines and fresh produce stacked up along the sidewalk.

My name is Dave Lieske, but I go by Davey Gravy. I am a visual artist that lives in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I typically work with fiber, creating hip hop imagery and lyrics by cross stitching. I should note, I don’t consider myself a photographer - I just enjoy taking photos of what’s in front of me with my phone. This past year I have been traveling around my city and province more often and have made an effort to document its visuals. My interest in taking photos came from meeting people who take photography seriously. They plan day-long trips to the Banff area and familiar/unfamiliar parts of the city to explore, capture beauty, and build community. I was very interested because they were making places I’d visited on the daily look amazing through their photos and I wanted to do the same.

My name is Vanessa Rigaud. I am a travel occupational therapist by day, photographer and philanthropist by passion. I am currently living in Woodbridge, VA on a travel assignment for the next 3 months. I also co-own a jewelry business, Bisoux Jewelry, with my sister. My interest in photography was initially sparked out of a need. My sister and I had just started our jewelry business, in which all our proceeds are currently going towards our Haiti efforts, and we needed to take pictures of our inventory and had aspirations of creating a lookbook. We couldn't afford a photographer or anything at the time, and I had always been interested in the craft anyways, so I decided to buy a DSLR off of craigslist. It was love at first click =)

My name is Vinicius Mancini, I'm a graphic designer (and musician) based in São Paulo, Brazil. Because I'm a designer, I've always had strong interest in photography, though it has grown significantly after I joined and began actively using Instagram. São Paulo is a huge city, with a large population of about 20 million people living here. I think the crazy thing is that we don't have one particular culture; it's more of a huge mix of different people and cultures. I used to say we have several little countries inside different neighborhoods around the city, which is probably what makes me love it the the most. It's such a wild and dynamic city!
