Serendipity is (and continues to be) the theme of my journey through Africa.
On a drive back to Dakar from Saint Louis, my friends and I had a chance encounter with some Tuareg nomads and their 300 or so camels. It wasn't until our taxi driver started slowing down the car that we even noticed what was ahead. What I loved most about this moment was not planned. This moment was not the result of a tour or a guide; but an unexpected experience that we accepted as the most brilliant gift.
Not ones to squander a gift from the universe, my friend Soukéna and I jumped out of our car (grabbing our cameras first, of course) to fully take advantage of the moment. I mean, it's not everyday that you get the chance to interact with actual Taureg nomads in such an organic way.
It's still one of my most cherished memories from Senegal, so I hope you enjoy some photos we caught below.
