Confession: I have a major weakness for coffee table books.
And not just the ones with pretty, aesthetic covers. As I continue to curate my home, it was important to really take time to research before building a collection. I want to be able to actively read, thumb through, and be inspired by my coffee table books beyond their outer appearance. So to start, I’ve focused on a few themes:
Vintage photography by African greats like Malick Sidibé, Sory Sanlé, and Seydou Keïta
African Art history across several themes from various tribes and countries
Interior design books celebrating African, Japanese, and Italian styles
Modern photography celebrating black beauty and aesthetics
As time goes on, I’m hoping to get more that cover African recipes, and children’s fairytales. There’s something about seeing these celebrations of art and beauty stacked in my living room that brings me so much joy.
